Fixed lagging that occurred in the browser’s search field when the Sounds label was selected. Previously, a Macro Control’s range settings were not correctly updated when that Macro Control was being controlled by a Max for Live device. On first start, Live now only selects Simplified Chinese as the UI language if either: – the operating system language is set to Simplified Chinese; or – the operating system region is set to the People’s Republic of China excluding Taiwan and special administrative regions such as Hong Kong and Macao.

On macOS, if the operating system language is set to Simplified Chinese, Live now asks for permissions e. Live could crash when closing a window, a drop-down menu, or a context menu, under certain circumstances. Pressing and releasing Clear will still delete the current clip.

In the Launchpad Pro MK3’s Device Mode, the last selected parameter bank of each device instance will now be recalled upon reselecting the device instance. When Live is set to Japanese, the formatting of lesson texts in the Help View is once again displayed correctly. Previously, Live would not respond to mouse clicks if a dialog opened while another application was in focus macOS only.

Previously, newly-created clips sometimes did not inherit their track color. Devices In the Wavetable device, Undo commands performed on changes to user wavetables should now work as expected, and provide more meaningful undo descriptions for parameters that previously only displayed the default “Change Value” Undo action description.

It is no longer possible to change parameter values in a Max for Live device, if the track containing that device is frozen. Info texts and Help View lessons now have Chinese translations. Recording automation for multiple device or mixer parameters together will now result in less steps to undo on Push.

While recording on Push, pressing the Fixed Length button near the end of a segment of time that corresponds with the Global Quantization setting will cause Live to wait until that amount of time is elapsed before stopping the recording.

When Push is connected, other control surfaces will no longer conflict with the automatic track arming behavior of Push. When using multiple Push control surfaces, they will no longer conflict with each other’s automatic track arming behavior. In the Novation Launchpad Pro MK3 controller’s Device Mode, the last selected parameter bank of each device instance will now be recalled upon reselecting the device instance. Max for Live Default Max for Live devices now use live.

Fixed a bug that prevented undo and redo operations upon creating a computer keyboard mapping, as well as redo operations after deleting a computer keyboard mapping. When using an encoder on a MIDI controller to control a device parameter with discrete values, the control functionality will no longer be inverted. Devices Previously, when instantiating an Audio Unit plug-in, Live would sometimes display an error message about a folder that could not be created. Previously, after replacing a Max for Live device and then undoing the operation, the wrong device name would be displayed.

Fixed a crash that occurred after unfreezing a track containing Wavetable, and then deleting the Wavetable device. Parameter banks in the Wavetable device will now be correctly mapped to control surfaces. Fixed a crash that occurred when selecting and freezing multiple tracks containing the External Instrument device. If a track with a plug-in device is unfrozen, has its plug-in parameters or preset changed, and is frozen again, it will now record new audio instead of using the old frozen audio file.

Max for Live devices that are not visible are now correctly notified of active state changes. Control Surfaces When Push 1 is power-cycled or turned on while Live is running, the touch strip will now be correctly updated in Note Mode.

Previously, fades would flicker when the cursor moved over fade handles. Fixed a bug that prevented resizing a track by pressing ALT and scrolling with the mouse, if the track was placed after a folded Group Track.

Fixed a crash that could occur when dragging a template Set from the User Library into the Session View. Fixed a bug which caused Live to hang when a Set contained very short Arrangement clips. Fixed a crash that could occur when dragging or copying and pasting an unwarped clip over a tempo change. Previously, notes playing in Session clips would be re-triggered by note chasing when the Arrangement loop caused playback to jump backward in time. Auto-updates no longer interrupt the file recovery process after a crash.

Devices Fixed a crash that occurred when trying to unfold a missing sample item in the File Manager, if the sample was used as an imported waveform in the Wavetable device. Fixed a bug which prevented automation in the Wavetable device from playing. Midi Recording and Editing It is no longer possible for zero-duration notes to exist at the same start time as another note.

This corrects various unwanted behaviors that previously occurred in the MIDI Note Editor when working with zero-duration notes. Automation Fixed a crash that occurred when redoing stretching or skewing automation envelopes. Previously, duplicating a Rack chain would not result in duplicated automation. Fixed a crash that could occur when a looped audio clip’s automation was overridden, under certain circumstances.

Copying automation envelopes from one plug-in device to another now works as expected. Fixed some crashes related to automation envelopes. Recording Live no longer allows freezing tracks while recording. This prevents any possible loss of the recorded audio. Fixed a bug that prevented VST3 plug-in parameters from updating correctly. Some videos using old formats can no longer be played back. While running macOS Mojave Please read this Knowledge Base article. Automation When dragging, stretching or skewing automation, or when changing the curve of a segment, pressing the ESC key now resets the automation to its original state.

The global “Snap Automation To Grid” option is now ignored when Draw Mode is enabled, so the quantization always matches the visible grid. A “No more automation events could be removed” message now appears in the Status Bar when performing the “Simplify Automation” command on an envelope has no effect. Home and End keys move the selection to the first and last options respectively. Page Up and Page Down keys move the selection by the size of the page, or by 25 entries if the chooser control is collapsed.

The metronome’s Rhythm setting is now saved in the Live Set. The “Freeze Track” command is now available in the context menu of automation lanes. Live’s browser now starts searching after entering a single Chinese character. Adding or removing scenes in a Live Set with many scenes is now significantly faster.

Added support for emoji characters in all text fields on the following systems: Windows 10 and later macOS Text in the Redux device is now correctly displayed.

Supported properties include Live’s track name, track index and track color. Certain plug-ins will now show Live’s track names in their Mixer section. This entry appears in context menus of plug-in devices in the browser, and in the title bar of plug-in devices in the Device View.

This is consistent with the MP3 export behavior. Max for Live Improvements Updated the bundled Max build to version 8. Live will no longer load Max versions older than Max 8. When an external Max version older than 8. Users cannot select Max versions older than 8. Changes since Max 8. Fixed a crash that occurred when undoing adding a default Max instrument or a Rack containing a Max instrument.

Live no longer crashes when recording into a Session slot after a device with latency has been deleted. Fixed a crash that occurred when editing the value of an automation segment within an inactive time selection. Fixed a crash when moving a device with overridden Arrangement automation to a different track. Fixed a bug which created an erroneous breakpoint when switching between stretching and skewing automation. Previously, plug-in parameters would disappear from their Live panel if they were edited using automation shapes.

Previously, recording clip automation into the Arrangement did not work as expected. Previously, when the Lock Envelopes switch was enabled, moving automation on a frozen track would not work as expected. When cancelling drawing automation in Draw Mode by pressing the ESC key, the cursor now stays at its current position.

After cancelling editing automation by either pressing the ESC key or entering an invalid value, the mouse cursor now reverts to the correct position when opening a context menu. Dragging a time selection of a discrete automation would cause the mouse to jump erratically. Fixed a bug that prevented correctly stretching MIDI notes in a time selection, under certain circumstances.

Velocity values are once again correctly displayed as integers in the MIDI Note Editor, if their velocity markers are dragged. Fixed a crash that could occur when importing an empty MIDI clip. Interface Improved the appearance of the Wavetable and Impulse devices, as well as Live’s plug-in device panel. Fixes three issues with crash recovery: Crash recovery would crash again and again when trying to recover from a crash, instead of only recovering the history until a previous crash.

When trying to recover a Live Set a second time, Live would end up with a corrupt history and possibly crash when undoing directly after recovering. Previously, when Shift-clicking to select multiple Arrangement tracks, and editing a parameter for all tracks, the selection focus was erroneously invisible. Previously, the blue LED that indicates clip modulation would appear on slider controls that were not modulated. Previously on Windows, a Windows notification sound would play after using the “Consolidate Time to New Scene” command and pressing the Space bar.

Fixed a crash that occurred when opening the View menu while the Master track was selected. Previously, the playhead would disappear after stopping the song, and would only reappear after making a time selection or clicking in the Arrangement View.

Fixed a crash that occurred when dragging a multi-selection of Session clips past the first scene. Previously, tracks contained within certain Live Sets created by third-party software could not be unfolded in the browser.

Zooming to fit content to the Detail View with the “W” button now works correctly when content is within negative time. Fixed a bug that caused playheads to appear in the wrong color after resizing Live’s window. When using IME and editing info texts, the text field now retains typed input when clicking outside the text field, without the need to press Enter first. Fixed a bug that prevented Live from handling more than 1, scenes correctly. Fixed auto-scrolling for automation in the Detail View.

Previously, note velocity ranges in the Status Bar were displayed with four decimal places, when notes with different velocities where selected.

Fixed a bug that caused Live to hang when dragging attachment files to a Drum Rack. Previously, scrolling through a context menu using arrow keys could erroneously select the context menu item positioned underneath the mouse cursor. Previously, the Clip Stop button would not blink after it was clicked.

Fixed a crash that occurred when opening the View menu while the Clip View was in focus and no clip was selected. Devices Fixed the value ranges of the Velocity parameters in the Collision device.

Automation applied to parameters in the Wavetable device now has more consistent timing. Live Sets created in versions of Live older than Fixed two bugs that affected the appearance of Simpler’s loop markers. Control Surfaces Fixed a bug where switching between various mixer modes on the Launchpad MK2 could result in the faders becoming stuck on controlling sends.

Improved keyboard event handling in VST3 plug-ins. Fixed a crash that could occur when running certain VST3 plug-ins. Audio On Windows, exporting audio would not work as expected and could cause Live to crash, under certain circumstances. Frozen tracks now provide Post-FX output routing to other tracks. This allows tracks that are sources for sidechains to be frozen. It is now possible to freeze tracks which contain AU, VST or Max devices that receive audio from another track sidechains. If selected, every track will be rendered as if it was soloed and the master track was being recorded.

This means that return and master effects are included. When a track with a sidechain is frozen, unfrozen, and frozen again, the track’s audio is now always re-rendered. This ensures that changes in the sidechain source track are considered in the new rendered file. The Arrangement Overview is now resizable, and its contents now always fit inside the box exactly. When moving through the Arrangement using the arrow keys, the view will scroll to keep the selected track visible, if necessary.

When committing a groove on a MIDI clip, a time selection is only made if notes were selected prior to committing the groove. Clicking on the timeline ruler will pause follow. In arrangement, when calling “Select All” e. Stretching time in the Envelope Editor is now possible with the Automation Transform tool, and the Note Stretch markers have been removed from the Envelope Editor.

They are still available in the Note Editor. It is now possible to edit the value of an automation breakpoint or segment using a context menu and keyboard. While hovering over a breakpoint or segment, right-click and press the new “Edit Value” context menu item to make the automation value box editable. Enter a new value and confirm the entry either by deselecting the value display box or hitting the Enter key. When hovering over an automation and a ‘preview’ breakpoint is shown, users can right click and access an “Add Value” context menu item.

The new breakpoint can then be added with the entered value. When right-clicking on an automation lane, the context menu now reveals a number of pre-defined shapes that can be inserted into a given time selection. If no time selection exists, the length of the shape corresponds to the current grid quantization. In Automation Mode, clip fades can be viewed and edited while holding down the “F” key.

Added buttons to the Envelopes box for Session clips to toggle between automation and modulation envelopes in the Clip View. Modulation envelopes in Arrangement clips can now be accessed directly via the clip envelope chooser. Previously, they were only accessible through a parameter’s context menu. Modulation envelopes now appear in a modulation-specific color.

Also, the LEDs in the clip envelope choosers now show whether a parameter is automated, modulated or both. When drawing non-quantized automation using draw mode with a disabled grid or recording a continuous stream of value changes, Live now creates ramps instead of small discrete steps, to avoid unwanted zipper noise. Note that this excludes parameters that require discrete steps, e. When drawing automation with a deactivated grid, Live will insert fewer breakpoints and tries to use curved segments whenever possible.

This will significantly reduce the overall amount of breakpoints and makes it easier to edit the automation envelope afterwards. This also applies to drawing modulation, except when the parameter type doesn’t support it. Added a “Simplify Envelope” command to the context menu of automation envelopes within a time selection, which removes unnecessary breakpoints and tries to use curved segments whenever possible to allow easier breakpoint editing.

When clicking on a control in a clip’s Sample Box in the Clip View e. Browser Live’s database will keep working even if a second Live instance is running. Previously, this was not the case, thus resulting in a partially empty browser.

Please note that it is necessary to update the Komplete Kontrol software to its latest version in order for the Live integration to work. Pressing “ALT” while using the pinch gesture changes the track height.

Entering Chinese, Korean or Japanese text now works correctly. If the tracks are in a mixes state e. This also works when multiple Group Tracks are selected. The “Show All Tracks” functionality that was bound to the “S” key in the Arrangement has been removed. The “S” key can now be used to solo tracks in the Session and Arrangement instead.

When invoking them again, the remembered view state is restored. Additionally, the respective buttons in Arrangement indicate whether a remembered state exists by changing their color. When the Detail View is in focus, pressing “H” zooms in on the area from the lowest to the highest note in the clip.

The behavior with multi-clip editing is also the same: notes in all edited clips are considered. Pressing the “Z” key or clicking the View menu’s “Zoom to Time Selection” command changes the height of selected content to fit the Arrangement View. The “X” key now allows zooming back out from the time selection. When zooming in multiple times using the “Z” key, the “X” key can be pressed multiple times to go back one step each time the key is pressed.

In the Arrangement, when only a few notes exist within a MIDI clip, they now appear in a larger size. On Windows, Live now respects the Control Panel’s “Choose how many lines to scroll each time” setting. In the Arrangement Overview, clips now always appear in the same color as in the Arrangement. Single tracks now appear in a standby selection color, under certain circumstances.

Until now, only multiple selected tracks were shown with a standby selection color, whereas single tracks were simply shown as unselected. The changes are as follows: when resizing an unselected track in the Arrangement, the track now appears as a standby selection. This is consistent with the behavior in Session View. This applies to both the Session and Arrangement Views. Previously they were rendered too small or displayed UI glitches. On Windows, the cursor that indicates that a breakpoint can be added is now white.

Rubber-band selection now scales correctly on hi-dpi screens. The status bar text shown after selecting MIDI notes in the editor has been improved, so that if only one note is selected, it does not display that as a range anymore.

Max for Live improvements Scale intervals can now be observed from Max for Live. Additionally, it provides the ability to modulate delay time and filter frequency with a built-in LFO. When opening an older Set or Preset which used Simple or Ping Pong Delay, an upgrade button will appear on the Delay device used in place of the original devices.

Introduced Channel EQ. Channel EQ is a three-band equalizer focused on immediacy. It is now possible to drop an audio file onto Wavetable’s Oscillator tabs, and use it as a wavetable. By default, the wavetable is processed and smoothed. However, Wavetable also provides a “Raw” decoding option. Please note that at this time encoded files e. Previously, these controls were exclusively available in Sampler. In the Delay device, the maximum delay time offset is now consistent with the Simple Delay and Ping Pong Delay devices.

When mapping a parameter to an empty macro, the macro assumes the full range of the target parameter, and will be set to the current value of the target parameter. Push 2 New scales are visible on Push, and some existing scales have been renamed. Setup Improved the performance of drag and undo commands on interactions with automation envelopes. All plugin settings now appear in a dedicated “Plugins” tab in the Preferences. Introduced system folders for VST3 plug-in scanning.

Also added a button to the “Plugins” Preferences tab to enable and disable system folders. VST3 plug-ins are now scanned via a separate background process.

Plug-ins that crashed during scanning no longer cause Live to crash. In addition, Live will not need to wait for the plug-in scan to finish in order to launch. VST3 plug-in scanning now supports symlinks. For VST3 plug-ins with less than 65 parameters, the parameters are now auto-assigned after instantiation. Sidechain routings, Gain and Mix parameters are now displayed in third-party plug-ins in the Device View.

Breakpoint values would erroneously be displayed behind insert markers. Ableton Live lets you easily create, produce and perform music within one intuitive interface.
