Hundreds of thousands of videos appear on YouTube every day. Some people start their own channel with the goal of becoming a famous blogger, and for some people, it is just a hobby. In addition, YouTube videos are often used by companies and agencies to attract clients.

Let’s talk about how to start a YouTube channel for beginners.

Create a personal channel

  • Go to YouTube
  • Sign in to your profile with your email
  • In the upper right corner, click on the profile photo and select “Create Channel”
  • Choose a title and select a channel image
  • Confirm creation by clicking “Create Channel”
  • Add the first video

You can create a channel using the web version and the YouTube mobile app. The process is the same for both options and will take up to 10 minutes.

  • Go to the YouTube site
  • In the upper right corner, click the “Sign In” button
  • Next, you need to sign in to your Google Account, or create a new one. In the latter option, click “Change Account” and then “Create Account. After that, follow Google’s instructions. If you want to link your channel to an existing email, select one of the options on the list.
  • Once you are logged into your YouTube account, you can create your personal channel. Enter the name of the channel and upload the desired image – the channel image. You can change the name and photo at any time.

You can customize the channel’s design by choosing a background image, banner, and logo. For an even richer channel, add a description, links you want viewers to know about, and your contact information. Appropriate options are available on the Channel Settings tab. There you can also set the desired appearance of your channel homepage, namely, add sections (up to 12 pieces).

When creating your YouTube channel, pay special attention to its design. Try to be brief about what your channel is about; add a unique visual design and try to stick to your own style in all elements:

You can see at a glance how successful your project is on YouTube: by the number of subscribers, channel and individual video views, user comments, likes, or dislikes. Moreover, YouTube Analytics will tell you all the details about your audience, where and when they come to your channel, how long and how often they watch your videos – and these are just a few of the metrics available.

How to write YouTube description

Do not leave the “About Channel” tab blank. This is important: The text in the channel description is not only revealing its content but is also indexed in search so that your channel can be displayed in recommendations.

Here you can talk about your company or yourself as an author, write about what your content is about, who it is suitable for, what it can be useful and interesting for the viewer, and how you can be contacted.

The YouTube channel description is limited to 1000 characters. Particular attention should be paid to the first 100-150 characters. Depending on the device, the remaining text may be hidden. A good tactic is to include several relevant keywords and calls to action in the first lines of the description.

How to make a YouTube channel trailer

A channel trailer is a short video introducing the channel. It will be seen by users who are visiting your channel for the first time and are not yet subscribed to it. It is important to capture their attention from the very first seconds, to tell them about the idea of the channel so that they want to subscribe and watch new episodes.

Think of it as your pitch to your viewers and show them the best in a minute. Start with a short greeting, continue with the message of the channel, and end with a call to action to subscribe to the channel.

To get more views for your trailer you can buy real YouTube views.

How to choose topics for YouTube videos

If you want to create a channel on YouTube, and make it popular and in demand, you need to carefully select topics for videos and optimize them for popular keywords close to the topic of the blog. Key queries are search phrases people use most often when searching for information.

The easiest way to find out what topics you should shoot your first videos on is to use YouTube search tips.

Write down suggested keywords and check their frequency through SEO services such as Keyword Tool, Google Keyword Planner, VidIQ. At the beginning of video blog development, make videos for medium-frequency queries. If the frequency is too low, the video is likely to get few views. And on the contrary, if the frequency of the query is too high it will be difficult for the video to compete in YouTube search.

Be sure to add tags and keyword descriptions to each video. It is the description that helps YouTube algorithms understand what your videos are about and to whom they should be shown. The higher the quality of the description, the higher the rating the video will get, the higher the chances of getting into the “Similar videos” selection that brings in up to 70% of all viewers.

Start your channel and have no fear. Remember, there will be no instant result, but if you put in enough effort, everything will work out!
